ISD Families: Complete Online Verification August 7-13

Every summer, we need all ISD families to tell us if their students will be enrolled in our schools for the coming year by completing the Online Verification process. This must be done regardless of whether school starts in-person or remotely. This important process helps us determine how many staff members we’ll need at each of our schools, and it gives you the chance to complete forms needed to start school.

Here’s how to do it: Between Friday, August 7 and Thursday, August 13, please log on to Family Access and complete the process for each of your students. Look for the prompt asking you to complete the Enrollment Verification Process (EVP) for elementary students, Back-to-School Check-In (BTSCI) for middle school students, or Registration Student Verification Process (RSVP) for high school students.

Please note that this year, only the family listed as Family 1 in Skyward will have access to complete this process.

ISD SCHOOL BOARD APPROVES FULL REMOTE START FOR 2020-21

Dear ISD Community,

Issaquah Schools will start the 2020-21 school year in a fully remote learning environment. At its meeting last night, the Issaquah School Board voted to accept the recommendation I made earlier this week that we begin the year remotely. This decision was not easy for me, and it was not easy for the Board, but, in light of the current high rates of COVID-19 infection in our county, it is the correct decision for the Issaquah School District.

We understand the hardship this places on many of our families and on the many students who struggle to learn outside of in-person classroom instruction. Please know that we are committed to ensuring that all of our students have the best chance to succeed as we start the school year in these less-than-ideal circumstances. That is especially true of our youngest learners, students receiving Special Education, English language learners and students from low-income families.

In the coming days and weeks, District staff will continue the work of planning out how we will operate in this remote learning environment. As I’ve mentioned in other recent messages, our Reopening and Reimagining Schools Committee has already been hard at work developing these complex plans, and we are committed to providing a more robust and effective online learning system than we were able to provide under the emergency circumstances of the closure that ended the past school year.

Many details are still unclear, but please know that we are committed to providing you with the information your family will need to be successful as soon as we are able.

Thank you for your patience as we work through the many complicated questions we now face as a school system, and thank you for your partnership as we work together to protect the health of our community and to ensure success for ISD students in the coming school year.

Sincerely,

Superintendent Ron Thiele
